The Subtle Power of Sound: Tuning Forks in Facial Ritual

In my treatments, I’m always looking for ways to go beyond the surface of the skin, into the nervous system, into stillness, into a deeper sense of balance.

One of the ways I do this is through the use of tuning forks from Acutonics, applied gently to specific marma points on the face.

It’s subtle. Often barely perceptible.

But the body feels it.

What Are Tuning Forks?

Tuning forks are calibrated metal instruments that emit specific frequencies when activated. Originally used in music, they are now also used in sound therapy to introduce gentle vibration into the body.

When placed on the skin, these frequencies travel through tissue and fluid, creating a soft, resonant effect that can feel deeply calming and regulating.

In a facial, this becomes less about “treatment” and more about attunement.

What Are Marma Points?

Marma points come from Ayurvedic tradition. They are energetic points on the body where physical and subtle systems meet.

On the face, these points are connected to:

  • the nervous system

  • emotional holding patterns

  • circulation and lymph flow

Working with marma points can help invite both physical and energetic release, often without needing deep pressure.

How I Use Them in a Facial

During your facial, I may gently activate a tuning fork and place it on specific marma points across the face and scalp.

You might notice:

  • a soft vibration

  • a sense of spaciousness

  • a deeper drop into relaxation

Or you may simply feel… still.

There’s nothing you need to do.
The experience works quietly.

Why I Include Sound in Skin Care

For me, skin care isn’t just about products, it’s about how the body receives care.

When the nervous system softens:

  • the skin becomes more receptive

  • circulation improves

  • the overall experience becomes more restorative

The tuning forks support this shift in a way that feels gentle, non-invasive, and deeply grounding.

A Different Kind of Facial

This is not a results-driven, high-intensity treatment.

It’s a slower, more intentional experience, one that blends touch, plant-based skincare, and subtle sound to support the whole person, not just the skin.

If you’re someone who craves quiet, depth, and a more ritual-based approach to skincare, this may be something you resonate with.

The Gold Om Fork

One of the tuning forks I work with is the Gold Om fork, tuned to a frequency that is often associated with grounding and wholeness. When activated, it creates a deep, steady vibration that the body can feel and respond to.

When placed on marma points, this frequency travels through the tissues and fluids of the body, inviting the nervous system to soften and settle. Many people describe it as a gentle internal hum—like the body is being reminded of a more balanced state.

Rather than stimulating or energizing, the Om frequency tends to bring everything back to center. It supports stillness, presence, and a deeper receptivity to the treatment as a whole.

The “Om” tuning fork is typically tuned to 136.1 Hz, often referred to as the cosmic Om frequency. It’s derived from calculations based on the Earth’s orbit and is considered part of the “music of the spheres”.
